The Obalon balloon is the ONLY swallowable, FDA – approved balloon treatment for weight loss and is ideal for someone who wants to lose between 30 and 50 pounds.
The Obalon Balloon system helps facilitate weight loss by taking up space in the stomach so that the patient eats less and feels full faster. Over a 6 month treatment period, 3 balloons are swallowed in our office. Placement usually takes less than 10 minutes and doesn’t require any sedation. There is no downtime and normal activity is usually resumed immediately after the balloon is placed. At the end of the 6 months, all balloons are removed in a 15 minute outpatient endoscopic procedure under light conscious sedation.
During the 12 month treatment program, patients will receive nutrition and exercise support to help facilitate lifestyle changes that promote weight loss. A patient’s readiness to modify their behavior and maintain this commitment after the balloons are removed are key to their success.
The ReShape Dual Balloon system is a non-surgical weight loss procedure for patients with a BMI between 30 and 40 and who do not want or don’t qualify for bariatric surgery.
The ReShape Dual Balloon is inserted in the stomach during a short outpatient endoscopic procedure, where it remains for 6 months, serving as built-in portion control so people feel full and less hungry. Once it’s in place the balloon is inflated with a sterile solution which takes up room in the stomach. It does not alter the anatomy in any way.
During the 6 months the balloons remain in the stomach, and for six months after they are removed, patients will meet with our nutritionist on a monthly basis. This comprehensive coaching will guide, direct and educate you on proper eating habits, including the importance of protein intake. The combination of portion control and lifestyle changes will put the patient on the right track for proven weight loss.
Insurance approval for bariatric surgery can be a difficult maze to maneuver. Our practice has 7 Patient Advocates who focus on obtaining insurance approval for patients. They will verify your insurance and walk you through any required prerequisites prior to surgery. When you call our office you will be introduced to your Patient Advocate who will work with you until the time you are scheduled for surgery.
If your insurance does not cover bariatric surgery, your Patient Advocate will discuss our cash pay prices and financing options.
